Appreciation
Appreciation is the ability to recognize what others have done for us. No one should take anything for granted, so being thankful is more than being polite; it is about treasuring the love and care that we encounter in life. All of these are signs of being loved and reflect how lucky we are. We must truly appreciate what we have.
Our PTA hosted Teacher Appreciation Day today. They did not have to, as teachers get paid and it is our responsibility to teach. However, parents’ support and participation in school activities provide vital recognition of what the school is gearing towards. We are in this together. It is far more effective for parents and the school to work hand in hand to nurture the next generation. The school appreciates this parental support very much. Besides, when teachers received those heartwarming thank-you cards from students, we felt loved. All those messages on the cards represent the everyday bonding that we build together day by day.
Other than Teacher Appreciation Day, there are many festivals that provide opportunities to show our appreciation, such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Even though we see our parents often, we do not show our gratitude enough. These special days are moments to appreciate what they do for us every single minute. I am grateful that King Ling students design their own cards for their parents!
We should also appreciate traditional Chinese festivals that celebrate family unity. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, we should show gratitude for family unity while sharing mooncakes under the full moon. The Dragon Boat Festival offers a chance to respect historical loyalty while experiencing the spirit of teamwork through dragon boat races. Moreover, the Chung Yeung Festival serves as a meaningful time for all of us to visit ancestral graves, showing deep appreciation for our heritage and building upon family history.
We should take every opportunity to express love and gratitude to our loved ones.
